Pager or Tamaguchi???

After joining the company for 4 months plus, today is my first day on duty as a guard or a keeper or a watchman or whatever you call it la. Actually it is a support work, where I need to standby for 24 hours for the next 2 weeks. This means I cannot travel outstation, and must have my notebook and hp with me all the time. My hp will be my modem to connect to Internet as I am using GPRS service. I already applied for unlimited data packages, a bit expensive compare to normal broadband fees, but save the hussle of applying this and that.

So, I got my pager today, and it looks like a tamaguchi...

At 12 pm noon - "wow wow, wow wow"
ooppss... my dog is hungry, need to feed him (it's a male, btw)

At 2 pm - "wow wow, wow wow"
my dog needs to take a bath, very dirty

At 4 pm - "wow wow, wow wow"
my dog is boring, keep begging me to bring him out for a walk, otherwise he's going to run around like a mad dog and keep on "wow wow, wow wow" non stop (do they have silent mode?)

At 7 pm - "wow wow, wow wow"
time to feed the dog again......

At 8 pm - "wow wow, wow wow"
my dog want to play with..............

At 10 pm - "wow wow, wow wow"
need to babysit the dog otherwise he wont sleep.......... and continue........

Tamaguchi is an electornic pet system on a piece of thingy that looks like a pager, where you have to take care of your pet from young (some from an egg) till they died. It was very popular back in year 1998, especially among the girls. Out of 10 girls, probably only 1 will not carry the pager around and out of 10 guys, probably 1 or 2 will carry it. It came with a few varieties of pet like dog, cat, chicken, rabbit and even dinosaur too. This electonic pet has emotion, they know when to get angry, sad and happy. You must feed them on time or else they will make noise. You must play with them, accompany them or else they will become mad. And they will wake u up in the middle of the nite. Seriously, I have no idea what is so fun about it.........

Anyway, first day carrying a pager, and after lunch, "beep beep beep" sound came from my pager. Actually I received the issue notice on email first before the pager, weird. Read the message and have no idea how to fix it, so looked for my supervisor and asked how and where should I start. He said he will fixed it, so I just stand there and look at him how he do it. After few hours of standing, still unable to resolve the issue. We read all the documentations yet they is no solution for it although we managed to find what is the problem. The other senior guy of my team that usually handle this was not around...... so we have no clue how to continue...... only can wait for him to solve it.
Pray hard that for the coming 2 weeks there will be no "beep beep beep" during my zzzzzzzzzzzzz time. And for my colleagues that read this blog, dun itchy hand go n pager me.
